May 23rd and 25th, 2009

Family and community were the focus at the Child Identification Program (CHIP) event held at Fulton Friendship Lodge #102 in Park Ridge, on May 23rd and 25th. Parents from Park Ridge, Montvale, Woodcliff Lake, and other nearby towns lined up to obtain fingerprint, dental imprint, photo, and video identification kits. A total of 456 children were processed over the two days of the program.

The event was planned and coordinated by Brother Richard Farraj, with the assistance of Bro.Thomas Rensvold, Bro. Luis Valls, WB Robert Valas, Bro. Steve Urso, Bro. Mitch Lane, Bro. Mick O’Herien, Bro. Peter Stempkowski, RW Ed Archbold, WB Dave LaGanis, Bro. George Cyriax, Bro. Valentin Krupelev, WB Walter Seidel, WB Lenny Scott, WB Leonard Bogert, Bro. Carl Weil, Bro. Fred Wien, RW Gene Muller, and WM Carlos Fonseca, all of Fulton Friendship Lodge. On hand to coordinate efforts were members of the Grand Lodge, including RW Roger Quintana MACI Chair, WB Raul Ramos, RW Rowland Francis and Bro. Brendan Meany. Other members of Fulton Friendship Lodge, members from the 2nd  and 3rd Districts, and wives, fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, and friends of members were there to assist as well.  Park Ridge and Montvale police officers served at the fingerprinting stations, and local dentists and nurses aided at the dental imprint stations.

A number of local public officials came out to support the event, including Bergen County Executive Dennis McNerney, State Senator Gerald Cardinale (39th District of NJ), Vice Chairwoman of Bergen County Chosen Freeholders Julie O’Brien, Director of Bergen County Multicultural Affairs Wendy Martinez, Park Ridge Mayor Donald Ruschman, Park Ridge Councilwoman Tammy Levinson, and Park Ridge Police Chief Joseph Madden.

Parents and children were treated to free food, beverages, music, clowns, an inflatable slide, and face painting. A ladder truck from the Park Ridge Fire Department and an ambulance from the Tri-Boro Ambulance Corp were on display. Community outreach tables were set up by D.A.R.E. officers, the Office of Emergency Management, the Tri-Boro Ambulance Corps, and the Girl Scouts, who spoke to parents and children about safety awareness.

County Exective McNerney awarded the Lodge with an official proclamation, and commendations were given to individual lodge brothers and members of the community. The event was an enormous success, well exceeding the expectations of the Fulton Friendship Lodge brethren.

Fulton Friendship Lodge Honors Its Past Masters

May 5th, 2009

In partial celebration of its newly renovated facilities, Fulton Friendship Lodge No. 102 in Park Ridge held a special dinner on May 5th, 2009 to honor its Past Masters. An extraordinary 17 of the lodge’s 21 living Past Masters came to the event, and were awarded plaques in recognition of their service to the lodge. Many of the masters traveled considerable distances (e.g. from Florida and North Carolina) to be present for the occasion, making the event a reunion for brethren who have not seen each other in decades, and well as a first meeting occasion for the newer lodge members. The lodge was particularly pleased to welcome 100-year young WB Harry Rosenblatt, Past Master in 1955, who came all the way from Miami to be honored with his brethren.

On hand for the celebration were Guest of Honor RW Glenn Trautmann JGW, as well as MW Gerald Grosskopf PGM, RW Andrew Freda 3rd DDGM, RW Jeffrey Chan GC, RW Daniel Schultz GH, plus numerous other Right Worshipfuls and Past Masters. The event was a momentous one for Fulton Friendship Lodge, one sure to be remembered for years to come by its brethren.
